The Artist: Arnulf Rainer (Austrian surrealist painter born in 1929)
Significance: I'm not a big fan of contemporary art. But for some reason I really like Austrian-born artist, Arnulf Rainer. I think he captures moments of darkness inherent in all people. I like his use of color and texture; and I like the way his work speaks to you in an Andy Warhol-esque sort of way. But that's just me.
