Left: The Mulleavy sisters, who founded their line in 2005.
Right: McCollough and Hernandez, who started their label in 2002.
Last night's Council of Fashion Designers of America's (CFDA) annual awards--hosted by comedienne, Tracey Ullman--really belonged to young designers, who dominated the traditional awards (in addition to the awards dedicated to newcomers). I can even forgive Rodarte taking away the Womenswear award from my husband, Marc Jacobs, as I absolutely adorrrrrrre their line. Their F09 collection is stunning...Hmmm, maybe I should start a fashion line in my (non-existent) basement with my sister! Beats finding a "real" job....
